Early Intervention (EI) Programs are specialized services designed to support the development of infants and toddlers (ages 0–3) who have developmental delays or disabilities, or who are at risk for them. The goal is to identify and address challenges as early as possible—during a critical window of brain development—when support can have the most lasting impact.

EI programs typically include a team of professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, special educators, and developmental specialists. Services are tailored to each child’s specific needs and may focus on communication, motor skills, cognitive development, social-emotional skills, or daily living abilities.

A key feature of early intervention is its family-centered approach. Parents and caregivers are actively involved, learning strategies to support their child’s growth in natural environments like the home or daycare. Sessions may include coaching, modeling, and play-based activities that promote learning through everyday routines.

Early Intervention is typically provided at low or no cost and begins with a developmental evaluation or screening. The earlier a child receives support, the better their outcomes in school and daily life.

By addressing delays early, EI programs help children build a strong foundation for future learning, independence, and success.
