Step Ahead was founded in 2018 with a mission to support children with neurodevelopmental disorders. Initially, we focused on providing essential therapies such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavior therapy, and physiotherapy.
Over time, we realized that our children could thrive even more when learning and growing alongside their typically developing peers. This led us to involve siblings, recognizing their crucial role in fostering inclusion and providing support.
As a sibling of a 27-year-old adult with special needs, I have personally experienced the social challenges that come with this journey. We were often excluded from birthdays, weddings, and other events—simply because people assumed that if they invited us, my brother would come too, which they saw as inconvenient. These experiences deeply shaped my perspective and motivated me to create a safe and inclusive environment for children with autism, whether verbal or non-verbal.
Children with autism often struggle to share how their day at school went, causing concern for parents.
They may be unable to express whether they felt comfortable, safe, or happy.
Siblings act as a bridge by observing and communicating the child’s well-being to parents.

Step Ahead started with a vision to foster peer-to-peer interaction and learning at the early years level. Today, it has evolved into a fully established primary school, offering inclusive, mainstream education to both typically developing children and those with neurodevelopmental differences. Our students learn side by side with their peers, following a general curriculum that is thoughtfully adapted and personalized to support each child’s unique needs and strengths.
